Mountboard

Mountboard - proving the backing and support for your artwork.

If you want to preserve an artwork or image - you need to ensure that you use mountboard as a backing before framing. If you want to ‘float mount’ your artwork, then place it directly on a mount board without the frame.

Mountboard - coming in a range of colours - provides a sturdy and rigid backing to protect a framed photograph or a piece of artwork from moving or warping in the frame. Unlike matboard - which sits on top of the artwork to frame it - mountboard sits behind it and is and is usually made of foam (or polystyrene) with a smooth surface, but it can also be paper-based.

Mountboard - also known as foam core or backing board - is coloured card that is ideal for display purposes such as pressed flowers, mood boards etc.
